Benefits at a Glance
Komatsu offers a competitive benefits program, including health & welfare and retirement plans designed to meet the individual needs of its employees.
Most benefits for eligible employees begin on their date of hire. For many of the benefits where you make a contribution, the cost is deducted from each paycheck before Federal, State, Social Security and Medicare taxes are determined, helping to lower your taxable income. Some benefits are fully paid for by Komatsu and other optional benefits require employees to share in the cost.
Additionally, Komatsu offers resources to:
- Assist in making healthcare decisions through tools from top providers in the industry.
- Achieve retirement and financial goals through our retirement savings plan and financial planning assistance services.
- Meet education goals through a tuition reimbursement program.
- Enjoy time away from work through the use of vacation days and paid holidays.
Health & Welfare Benefits
Employees have peace of mind when it comes to medical coverage as Komatsu offers comprehensive and affordable options. Through its partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Komatsu offers a strong network of doctors and facilities nationwide.
When you choose to elect medical coverage, you automatically receive prescription coverage through Express Scripts, Inc. Prescription coverage includes retail and mail order options for generic, brand formulary, brand non-formulary and specialty medications.
The dental plan is administered by Delta Dental and includes coverage for preventive, basic and major services, as well as child orthodontia.
The vision plan is administered by Vision Service Plan and includes coverage for eye exams and eyeglasses or contact lenses.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
The FSA program allows you to reduce your taxable income by saving for healthcare and dependent care expenses through pre-tax deductions.
Life & Accident Insurance
Basic life and accident coverages are provided to employees at no cost. Employees can choose additional coverage for themselves and their dependents for an extra cost.
- Short-Term Disability — provided at no cost and covers up to 26 weeks of pay continuation due to an eligible extended illness or injury.
- Long-Term Disability (LTD) — provided at no cost. Long Term Disability offers partial salary replacement to employees whose eligible illness or injury extends beyond 26 weeks.

Retirement Savings Program
Komatsu offers a competitive 401(k) retirement program to help employees accumulate the savings they’ll need in their retirement years. Employees can opt to save money from their own paycheck and if eligible, will receive contributions made on their behalf from the company. Money saved within a Komatsu-sponsored 401(k) retirement plan grows tax deferred until it is distributed to employees.
Retiree Health & Life Plans
Komatsu wants to make sure we provide options for our retirees when it comes to their health and well-being upon their retirement. These benefits include a Retiree Medical Savings Account, a Pre- and Post-65 Medical and Prescription program as well as Retiree Life Insurance.
